There are many different hair extension techniques however some are ultimately better than others.

Enhanced Hair specialises in the cutting edge 'micro ring' technique. This is the latest innovation for the application of hair extensions and have proved to be better than other techniques because they are more:

• Natural looking,

• Comfortable,

• Kinder to natural hair,

• Easier to care for.
  

Micro Rings use absolutely No glue, heat or chemicals.

Micro Rings:

Micro rings are tiny undetectable metal rings with a coloured plastic cover to blend in with your own hair colour.

A few individual strands of your own hair and the hair being added are threaded through the ring and are clamped securely together by the stylist. They are applied in neat rows underneath your natural hair close to the scalp. Once connected your own hair covers the connection point and the rings are virtually undetectable.

Approximately 100 to 200 rings are attached depending upon the thickness required. Micro rings can take anywhere between 3 to 4 hours to apply.

The stylist will gently razor the extension hair to blend in with the natural hair.

Removal:

The micro ring technique if well cared for will last for 3 months before the hair extensions will need to be removed / reapplied. The natural hair continues to grow and after 3 months the rings will have become further away from the scalp to when they were first fitted. Keeping the same hair extensions in for any longer than 3 months may put too much strain on the roots.

The hair extensions can be easily removed. The micro rings are simply re-opened by the stylist and the extension hair falls free leaving the natural hair in its original state.

It is important to get the hair extensions removed by a qualified technician as trying to pull them out yourself can cause hair breakage. Proper removal is very quick and easy.

Other techniques:

Other techniques that use glue to attach the extensions have many disadvantages such as:

• The glue can damage the natural hair,

• Strong chemicals such as acetone are used to remove the glue bonds,

• The extensions are harder to look after, for example;

  • Clients can not wash their hair for 3 days after installation to allow the glue to set.
  • Clients need to be careful to avoid the bonds with ceramic straighteners and curlers to prevent the glue from melting.
  • Only special hair products can be applied to the hair in case they break down the bonds.

None of these problems apply to the micro ring technique.
